In 2016 I was invited to create a work in etched stone to celebrate the reopening of the Museu Carlos Machado at the Santo André convent in Ponta Delgada. The piece I created, entitled Animalia, Vegetalia, Mineralia (265 x 307 cm) references the history and founding of the museum, as well as aspects of its current programme.

The research that I have carried at the museum has led me to become familiar with the Systema Naturae, the work in four dense volumes by Carl Linnaeus. This work fascinated me profoundly and has been, since then, my constant companion. It is probably the reason that I have spent so much of the last few years in drawing a wide variety of animal and plant life.
