Flores #1, 2023, oil on paper, 38x28cm
In the artist’s own words. “I don’t know exactly how or why I started painting flowers. I was tired at the end of the year, but I needed to paint. I found myself painting flowers. After a while the flowers led me to paint bodies, alone or accompanied, of a very obvious sexual nature. It seemed very natural to me how one thing led to another. The flowers were already marked by this sexual charge. Now I look at these paintings, of flowers and bodies, crossed by a unifying sexual pulse, and I feel that they are part of the same matter, part of the same territory.”
